So here we go--15 minutes of exercise daily, and you live longer. That is the study released yesterday. How many of you don't exercise because you don't have 30, 40, or 45 minutes? Well, yes, 30 is better than 15 and 45 is better than 30, but how many times have you read in my articles and blogs about "fitting it in"? And face it, 15 minutes--there isn't anyone that can't fit that in. This study found those who exercised just 15 minutes a day — or 90 minutes a week — cut their risk of death by 14 percent and extended their life expectancy by three years compared with those who did no exercise. Both men and women benefited equally from the minimum activity. Each additional 15 minutes of exercise reduced the risk of death by another 4 percent compared with the inactive group. Researchers did not report how additional exercise affected life expectancy.
Come on--15 minutes to start--and for those of you who are avid exericisers and you do the longer workouts, that means that when something "gets in the way" you can just do the 15. But one thing is for sure--ZERO is ZERO and bring ZERO benefits. Get up, and get going. And you might find that you like the 15 enough to do more if you are currently sedentary.
Everything helps and everything is usful and forget that all or nothing mentality--for everything. Slight changes in you diet and slight changes toward activity and exercise and small changes in reducing your stress can bring you a new life.
