A very successful Lose It! client sent me an article published in the NY Times a few weeks ago. This article was well written by Gary Taubes about all the potential dangers of Sugar. And he includes that white refined stuff (glucose) and the enemy of us all, high fructose corn syrup. Now the article was very long and comprehensive, but even the author admitted at the end the the long-term large study that we really need to prove anything hasn't happened yet. But we read about mice, rats, small groups of human being and see that yes, there is something to open our eyes about this deadly combination of glucose/fructose (had any cola lately?). But the bottom line here, as with our food consumption in general is the amounts. Sugar has always been around. Our great grandparents had it but didn't suffer from an obesity epidemic. So, we come back to the same thing--IT'S THE AMOUNTS WE CONSUME! No one, including myself will tell you that is one, single, solitary good thing about sugar. But when it was in small amounts, just to sweeten our food a little bit, our bodies tolerated it. But like everything else, it wasn't meant to be consumed in mass amounts. So in all due respect to Mr. Taubes and the NY Times, CUT THE PORTIONS--OF EVERYTHING!
