Time to Listen Carefully

So this morning's health news once again gives us stats that can really scare us, but that we really know already even without the science behind it.  So here it is: "A 50-year-old with diabetes dies six years sooner than someone without the disease, and not just from a heart attack or a stroke, new research suggests." (Doesn't even discuss the quality of life factor).  Now we all know that Diabetes is the number one risk factor for heart disease among the 20 that exisist (By the way, all that cholesterol stuff is much further down on the list, but that is another topic for another time).  So here is the thing: this study examines more than 820,000 subjects (from other studies).  This is no small study of 3 mice in a lab It is obvious that it effects every area of health--cancer, pnemonia, suicide and more. And now we are going to hear yet again about better drugs, more frequent doctor visits, checking your blood sugar regularly.  And we will even hear more about weight loss--at any cost.  So, when will take all this R and D money for new drugs, new machines for checking blood sugar and put it into prevention and cure through change in life habits.  Here's the scoop--it is easier to prevent it than to cure it.  It is hard to change our habits, but a lot cheaper and more effective than pushing pills and insulin.  So, when will the money be allocated into better health education and setting up centers like ours (Lose It!) that deal in changing behviors and exercise and nutrition education; including the accountability thing.   WE CAN'T EVEN GET HEALTH FUND COVERAGE!  So please, take care of yourself.  The changes you need to make in order to be healthy are not large.  A few small changes here and there can make a huge difference.
Visit our website and read about all the people that have made those changes  www.loseit.co.il
Have a wonderful and healthful day.
Alan
