As usual, there was no shortage of health news this week, and there is never a shortage of news that just doesn't really shock me, even though the news outlets always think that there is something new and exciting here. So, here is what really caught my attention; "Lifestyle affects life expectancy more that Genetics." This was according to a Swedish study. If I had a dollar for every client and every doctor who tries to pass of their bad cholesterol, high blood pressure and high blood sugar readings on genes, I wouldn't have to work. But the genes are the minor player. Yes, we all have predespositions to various disease, but does that mean that if I exercise, eat well, and maintain a normal weight that is won't matter? Not at all. It matters very much. So this study shows conclusively that you can outlive your parents--no problem. You can have a better quality of life than they may have had. But it isn't the genes, it is you. It is you that has to decide to make the changes necessary to enhance you life. Putting in a little bit of work to change yourself will result in a huge amount of benefit. Make that decision. We can help you.
