Comment on the lastest weight loss news

Yesterday, the results of one of the largest studies every conducted on the effects of being overweight stated that just being overweight (as opposed to obese) showed that in healthy white males 13% were more likely to die during the course of the study than normal weight individuals using the BMI, and 1.5 million subjects in the study is impressive.  BUT--the BMI is a flawed measurement (to be discussed another time), physical activity is not a control in the study and we have several studies already showing that a person overweight who exercises but is overweight is better off than a normal weight sedentary person.  This study will once again prompt doctors to get their patients to lose weight in an unhealthful manner, will cause people to lose and gain on the yo-yo once again and even cause eating disorder.  People don't get it!  Lead a healthful lifestyle and concentrate on your health.  The weight loss--in an orderly and effective manner, will follow.  Think life changes, not weight loss and you WILL be healthy. Eat right, exercise, reduce stress, drink water, be happy!
